The right age to begin orthodontic treatment depends upon the orthodontic needs of each patient.
For that reason, we provide orthodontic treatment for children, adolescents and adults. Most young people are best treated around age 10 or 11, just as they are losing their last baby tooth. There are, however, situations when it is best to treat a patient when they are younger (around age 7 or 8) or when they are older and finished growing.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial evaluation of children at age 7 and we support this recommendation.
